"The Slow Drag dance was born to the sound of a ragtime jazz band one humid New Orleans night, just prior to the era of recorded music. Couples embraced and engaged in a step that was in no rush. Their focus was on each other and the feelings in the notes that flowed from the well-worn instruments.

Wednesday November 19th sees the beginning of a new chapter in London club history. The Slow Drag Blues Dance opens its doors for the first time. This is the newest and most sultry SLOW DANCE club night to hit the scene. Held in the plush surrounds of The Private Room, below The Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch. Here exists a secluded spot to get close with someone you fancy, sway and, if the mood takes you, grind away tofeverish mid-century rhythms - steamy blues, smoky jazz, sexy soul and sleazy rock’n’roll. Providing the soundtrack, straight from the dusty grooves of original 45rpm vinyl records, will be three of London’s finest slow-song selectors: DJ DIDDY WAH - NTS Radio regular, COLONEL SPENCER - MFC Chicken's sax man, and Rhythm & Blues singing sensation - SISTER COOKIE. It won’t cost you to get in and the tunes will slide from the speakers till the midnight hour, so come experience this novel night first hand and be prepared for the onslaught of slow!" https://www.facebook.com/events/1489309768023799/

The more savvy of you - and those residing south of the river - should be aware that NTS host and globetrotting DJ Bradley Zero is also the founder of ever-popular club night Rhythm Section. This month the Peckham institution is celebrating its third birthday with special guest Ruf Dug. Check out the facebook event over here for more details, and make sure you go shake a leg.
