Next wednesday we are hosting the first in a new series of events for us. Band Practice is a monthly evening of live music that will bring you a wide variety of live performances from artists we think are great, broadcast live on NTS.

For our inaugural gathering we welcome Damo Suzuki, formerly the lead singer in Can for what most people consider to be their best three albums. When original vocalist Malcolm Mooney left the band after recording their first album Monster Movie, Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit encountered Suzuki busking in Munich, Germany whilst the two were sitting outside at a street café, they invited him to join the group. And he did, performing with them that evening.
Suzuki was with Can from 1970 to 1973, recording a number of well-regarded albums such as Tago Mago, Future Days and Ege Bamyasi. His freeform, often improvised lyrics, sung in no particular language gelled with Can’s rolling, psychedelic sound.
He returned to music in 1983, and currently leads what is known as Damo Suzuki’s Network – as he tours, he performs live improvisational music with various local musicians (so-called “Sound Carriers”) from around the world, thus building up a ‘network’ of musicians with whom he collaborates.

We also welcome our good friends Temperatures down to play live, having impressed many with recent performances at Cafe OTO and The Vortex Jazz Club among others.

All this as well as a DJ set from our own Paul Camo, this is set to be a night of excellent music…

This Saturday Standard Place play host to Todd Edwards. Where to begin with this man is nigh on impossible, the inimitable collage production, the prolific output, the haul of solid gold classics. Certainly, very few garage producers have come close to his legendary status.
He is thought of as the embodiment of the link between US and UK house styles, translating as he did the house of the early 90′s as pioneered by MK, to the bumpy 4/4 sound that dominated the UK in the years either side of the millennium. The line up also features Standard Place stallwarts Oneman, Jon Rust and Reecha. This is not to be missed…

We will be hosting the gallery upstairs with various NTS family members bringing good vibes as always…
